Please note: We have received numerous offers to take in orphaned children. While we think this is a wonderful gesture, it simply is not feasible in our current situation. The children who have lost parents or guardians in the hurricane will be channeled through the system our government uses during non-crisis times. If you are interested in foster parenting (and there will be an even greater need for it after this catastrophe), please contact the National Foster Parent Association. You can find out what you'll need to do in order to become a foster parent. If you live in Florida, you can find contact information here.
Please, if you have posted ONLY to take in an orphaned child, you may want to re-post with an offer to take a family with children. We do not have the authority to place minors in alternative housing.
